WHEN YOU LEARN YOU LITERALLY BUILD UP YOUR BRAIN
MAKING IT SMARTER AND STRONGER
Hi Guys!
We are now APPRENTICES! We overcame* our First Level Challenge*.
We did such a great job so far*! Congrats to you!
During our last Brainology® class we also revised* what we’ve learned about our brain.
As homework, we had to explain 4 things that the brain does for us.
Here are some of the answers we gave:
- it is in charge of* all of our voluntary activities, such as -for example- speak or move
- it is also in charge of* functions such as breathing* and heartbeat*
- it receives and interprets the information from all our senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste –see Brainology®/6 for details)
- it allows* us to make decisions and choices*, understand other people’s behavior* and plan the future
We also recalled* some “brain power foods” that help our brain perform well:
- Eggs
- Nuts and pecans
- Fish
Finally, some of us recommended the following things to help us concentrate and learn new information:
- Sleep for an adequate* amount of time (about 8 hours per night)
- Eat healthy and “brain power” food
- Turn off distractions while studying (music, television, mobile phones…): with no distractions our brain can really focus on what we are trying to learn.
- Try to use as many senses as possible to learn one thing
- Draw pictures of something you are reading about
- Discuss issues and problems with someone: your classmates, your teacher, your friends…
The homework for next Tuesday is: “Give John some useful advice* to pass his next history test”.
See you soon!
Bye ;)
